The film is based on the exploits and accounts of real heroes of the 1999 Kargil crisis. It stars almost the entire film industry and with a running time of four hours, is one of the longest films in recent years.

The special show was organised in the Panchwati conference hall at 7, Race Course Road, the prime minister's official residence.

The film's director J P Dutta told PTI that he had personally requested Vajpayee to watch the film.

As the film deals with the armed forces, Dutta said a special screening would be organized on Saturday for military personnel at an auditorium in NOIDA near Delhi.
