Several allies of the BJP, including the TDP, on Thursday demanded that all political parties abide by the court verdict on Ayodhya and asked the government to adhere to the NDA agenda for governance.

Participating in a special discussion on the Ayodhya issue, the allies, which had come under opposition attack for remaining 'mute' spectators to the 'saffron' agenda of the BJP, said the matter should not be 'politicised'.

Rashid Alvi (BSP) asserted that so long as his party is in power in Uttar Pradesh, it would implement the court order on the issue. He recalled that both the houses had unanimously passed a resolution 'strongly and unequivocally' condemning the demolition of the Babri mosque.

Stating that all parties should abide by the court verdict or resolve the issue through negotiations, TDP's K Yerrannaidu said no party should take political advantage of the Ayodhya issue.

A K S Vijayan (DMK) and Devendra Prasad Yadav (JD-U) said it was the duty of the government to ensure that the court verdict is adhered to.

Prabhunath Singh (Samata Party) and Trinamool Congress' Krishna Bose said their parties would not accept the government deviating from the NDA agenda.
