Rains lash parts of Punjab, Rajasthan

Parts of Punjab and Haryana on Sunday received moderate rainfall bringing down temperatures by a few degrees while heavy rainfall was reported from Rajasthan.

Rains lashed Karnal, Rohtak, Ambala and Panchkula in Haryana, while Patiala, Jalandhar, Phagwara and Nangal Dam
area in Punjab also received light showers, according to the Meteorological Department here.

While in Rajasthan it rained today for the second consecutive day even as a six-year-old boy was reported killed after falling into an overflowing sewer line in Shastri Nagar area of Jaipur on Saturday evening, police said.

In Himachal Pradesh, Shimla recorded 9.6 mm rainfall, whereas Pandoh 46 mm, Rampur 8.9 mm, Kahu 7 mm, Sujanpur Thira 46.4 mm, Nadaun 1 mm Guler 3.5 mm and Nagrota Surien 14.5 mm were among the places in the state which received showers.
             
Meanwhile, Mount Abu in Rajasthan recored 16.8 cm of rainfall, while Jodhpur, Jaipur, Bhatarpur, Bhilwara, Kota-Bundi divisions and parts of Western Rajasthan received moderate to heavy rainfall between 7.6 cm and 11.9 cm, the Meterological Deparatment was quoted as saying.

It further added that the South-West monsoon would remain aggressive in the state till tomorrow resulting in a downpour.
