PM meets Vajpayee, Kalam

Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on Monday had a "customary" meeting with his predecessor Atal Bihari Vajpayee.

The 20-minute meeting at 7, Race Course Road in New Delhi was described as a "courtesy call".

Earlier, the PM called on President A P J Abdul Kalam and informed him about the Cabinet decision to request him to address both Houses of Parliament at 1100 IST on June 7.

During the 30-minute meeting, the two leaders also discussed matters of national and international importance, Rashtrapati Bhavan spokesman S M Khan said.

The new Cabinet, which had its maiden meeting on Sunday, had decided to hold the first session of the newly constituted 14th Lok Sabha from June 2, which will last for nine days. The Rajya Sabha will meet for a week beginning June 4.
