Bharatiya Janata Party's electoral ally Shiv Sena, coming to terms with its own internal strife, Thursday came to the aid of the embattled BJP on the Sanjay Joshi CD issue.

"What wrong did Joshi do?" an editorial in Sena mouthpiece Saamna mentioned Thursday.

"Pandit Nehru was a colourful personality. Just because his name was linked to Lady Mountbatten it does not reduce his contribution in politics," Saamna said.

"Only BJP-Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh may know the truth in the Joshi CD episode. It is said that a Sangh pracharak has to take a vow of celibacy. But who says that one can do social and national work just becuase he is celibate," it said.

"No political party should now flaunt the high plank of morality," Saamna said.

"Earlier, RSS had this monopoly, but one can see what has happened to it over the last few years," it added.

The editorial said that "a country which laid down the red carpet for Bill Clinton who had an illicit relationship with Monia Lewinsky now treats Joshi as a criminal."
