Kapila Vatsyayan resigns from Rajya Sabha

Kapila Vatsyayan on Friday resigned as member of the Rajya Sabha in the wake of the controversy over the office of profit issue.

Vatsyayan, who is Chairperson of the Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts, sent her resignation to Vice President Bhairon Singh Shekawat, who is Rajya Sabha Chairman.

Sonia Gandhi Resigns

Vatsyayan's is the third resignation, second from the Rajya Sabha, after Congress President Sonia Gandhi announced her resignation from the Lok Sabha on Thursday. Senior Congress leader Karan Singh, who heads the Indian Council for Cultural Relations followed her by resigning his Rajya Sabha seat.

Vatsyayan was nominated as a member of the house very recently.
