Monica Bedi, Bollywood actress and girlfriend of Mumbai underworld don Abu Salem, will be released on bail from the state prison for women in Hyderabad on Wednesday morning.

Speaking to rediff.com, Bedi's counsel S Pradeep Kumar said she could not be released on Tuesday evening as the completion of formalities for her release were delayed.

Her father Prem Kumar Bedi brought the Supreme Court's modified order for her release on bail a bit late as his flight from Delhi was delayed. Another surety for Rs 25,000 was furnished in the special court for CBI cases. An undertaking from Bedi was brought to the court from the jail.

By the time the special court's release order was taken to the women's prison, it was 4 pm. Hence, jail authorities said she could not be released on Tuesday and that the release would take place on Wednesday morning.

In the meantime, a large number of on-lookers and TV crews and media persons had gathered in front of the Women's prison at Chanchalguda, awaiting her release. They returned disappointed after being told that her release would not take place on Tuesday evening.

Earlier, special judge for CBI cases Raghunath Rao granted permission to release Bedi on bail, following the Supreme Court's modified order that the former actress be released on bail without surrendering her passport.
