China on Tuesday said it looked forward to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh's visit to Beijing to attend the seventh Asia-Europe Meeting next month.

"Prime Minister Wen Jiabao has invited Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to come to China next month to attend the 7th Asia-Europe Meeting," said Chinese Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi, who concluded his three-day visit to Delhi.

Yang said he has reiterated Beijing's invitation when he called on Dr Singh on Monday.

The Asia-Europe Meeting is likely to have heads of state or government from over 30 countries from the two continents.

The summit meeting is scheduled for October 25 and 26 in Beijing and will be an opportunity for leaders to discuss key international issues.

"We want the prime minister to come for the meeting and look forward to the valuable contribution that he can make at the summit," Yang said.

He said China had also extended an invitation to President Pratibha Patil for a visit to Beijing sometime next year.

China is also organising a symposium in December to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the then prime minister Rajiv Gandhi's visit to Beijing.
