Gangster killed in Maharashtra
A dreaded gangster owing allegiance to the infamous Dawood Ibrahim gang was killed in a police encounter on Thursday night at Tardeo in Bombay.
According to the police, Rajendra Digambar alias Chota Pawaskar (28) was spotted along with his associates during a routine combing operation. While his associates fled, he was asked to surrender before the police.
Pawaskar, however, opened fire on the police from his imported .38-bore six-magazine revolver. When the police returned the fired, the gangster was injured.
He was later rushed to the Nair hospital where he was declared dead before admission.
According to police records, the gangster was involved in several cases
of murder, attempt to murder, robberies and extortion. He was earlier a member of the Suresh Manchekar gang, sources said.
