2 held for desecrating statue in Maharashtra

Two persons were taken into custody on Sunday in connection with the desecration of an Ambedkar statue at Prakash Nagar-Garam Pani near S T bus stop in Aurangabad.

Tension prevailed in the city for some time and a major breakdown of the law and order situation was averted due to the dalit leaders's cooperation. No untoward incident was reported.

According to the police, the statue, which was garlanded with slippers and damaged by some miscreants, was replaced with a new one.
