'Very very important person in Maharashtra receives threats'
''A very very important person in the state'' has received threats to his life and his security has been beefed up, newly-appointed Maharashtra Chief Secretary P Subramaniam said on Tuesday.
Subramaniam said the threat to the said person's life was conveyed to the state government by Union Home Minister Indrajit Gupta through a letter.
The chief secretary, however, refused to divulge the individual's identity. He also refused to comment when reporters asked if the individual was a leader of a political party.
When the media repeatedly asked if the person was a businessman or a film personality, the chief secretary said, ''It is confidential at this stage.''
