Haffkine's develops antidote for scorpion bites

After 15 years of research, the Haffkine's Institute in Bombay has developed an antidote for scorpion poison.

"The whole world can now heave a sigh of relief," said Maharashtra Chief Minister Manohar Joshi, "It is a matter of pride for the nation."

The institute propose to distribute 3,000 vials of the antidote to the Konkan region which witnesses the maximum cases of scorpion bites. Many in this region, especially of Guhagar, Ratnagiri and Chiplun, have died because of this.

The antidote have been tested on rats, monkeys and guinea pigs and found completely safe.
