India announce preliminary squad for Twenty20 World Cup

India has named a preliminary squad for the Twenty20 World Cup in England in June, pencilling in all but four players from the side that won the inaugural edition two years ago.

Mahendra Singh Dhoni led a young team to surprise success in South Africa in 2007, triggering wild celebrations in cricket-crazy India as the game's newest format grew instantly popular in the sport's commercial hub.

Explosive batsman Virender Sehwag and off-spinner Harbhajan Singh are the most senior players in the 30-man squad which will be reduced to 15 before the tournament.

India squad: Virender Sehwag, Gautam Gambhir, Mahendra Singh Dhoni, Suresh Raina, Rohit Sharma, Yuvraj Singh, Yusuf Pathan, Irfan Pathan, Zaheer Khan, Ishant Sharma, Munaf Patel, Ravindra Jadeja, Pragyan Ojha, Harbhajan Singh, Praveen Kumar, Dinesh Karthik, Murali Vijay, Ajinkya Rahane, Subramaniam Badrinath, Robin Uthappa, Virat Kohli, Manoj Tiwary, Wriddhiman Saha, Abhishek Nayar, Amit Mishra, Ravichandran Ashwin, Rudra Pratap Singh, Lakshmipathy Balaji, Dhawal Kulkarni and Naman Ojha.
