Former Australian Test players Jason Gillespie and Damien Martyn have signed up to play in an unauthorised Twenty20 tournament in New York in October, Australian media said on Monday.
Fast bowler Gillespie, who claimed 259 Test wickets before retiring from the international game last year, and Martyn, who averaged 46.37 with the bat in 67 Tests until 2006, are among the players signed up for the American Premier League, The Age newspaper said.
The tournament, which will feature six sides, has signed up players from major cricketing nations with the majority coming from the Indian Cricket League, which is not recognised by the International Cricket Council (ICC), according to the promoter.
