Yorkshire pace bowler Tim Bresnan [ Images ] was a surprise inclusion in the England [ Images ] squad announced on Wednesday for the first Test against West Indies [ Images ] starting at Lord's in a week's time.
Essex all-rounder Ravi Bopara [ Images ] was also named in the 12-man squad and is likely to bat at number three after the selectors omitted former captain Michael Vaughan [ Images ], Ian Bell [ Images ] and Owais Shah [ Images ].
Durham pace bowler Graham Onions [ Images ] has been included ahead of his county team mate Steve Harmison [ Images ]. All-rounder Andrew Flintoff [ Images ] was unavailable after undergoing keyhole surgery on an injured knee.
Off-spinner Graeme Swann [ Images ] and left-armer Monty Panesar [ Images ] have both been named in the squad although only one is likely to play at Lord's.
