Pakistan fast bowler Sohail Tanvir was disappointed after his much touted deal with the English county side Surrey failed to materialise apparently due to visa problems.

Tanvir, who was dropped from the Pakistan team for ODI series in Sri Lanka following a poor show in the Twenty20 World Cup in England, was supposed to play for Surrey for rest of the season for a reported deal worth 75,000 pounds.

"Yes I didn't get the required work permit and visa on time so the contract has fallen through. It is very disappointing to me," Tanvir said.

The left-arm pacer insisted that he had been looking forward to playing for Surrey as an opportunity to improve his fitness and recapture his rhythm with the ball.

"Playing in English condition would have really helped me come back into form and into the Pakistan team as well," said Tanvir.

Sources said that the deal between Tanvir and Surrey was worked out late and the British high commission in Abu Dhabi also delayed the issue of approving the permit without which no overseas players can play in England.

"Visa was not an issue as Tanvir had one having recently played in England for Rajasthan Royals against Middlesex but he didn't have the required work permit to play for Surrey," one source said.

Meanwhile, Tanvir's agent Salman Ahmed also experienced bad time as he has come under fire for allegedly telling Indian news channels that he has complained to the Pakistan Cricket Board about Indian bookies approaching players in Colombo.

However, Ahmed, who heads the Portfolia World company that has several Pakistani players on its clientele list, has denied that he ever said this and accused the Indian channels of twisting facts and misquoting him.

The Pakistan board, according to sources, had taken the issue of Ahmed claiming to have complained to the PCB about the suspected Indian bookies affair in Colombo.

"The Indians channels have put me in an tight spot with their unethical reporting," he claimed.
