Discarded Australian opener Phillip Hughes has decided to set off for an India sojourn to sort out his batting woes and also explore some prospective Indian Premier League franchises.
Hughes wants to spend a week in the subcontinent on his way home from the Ashes to clear the chinks from his batting with coach Neil D'Costa, who is currently working in a private academy at Nagpur in India.
Hughes has a very close relationship with Neil, with whom he worked together during his stay in Sydney, where he used to run a cricket academy before shifting base to India.
The left-handed batsman also plans to pick up some batting tips from Indian maestro Sachin Tendulkar during his stay in the country.
Hughes's management said on Monday that he would be speaking to several IPL franchises while in India, with a view to entering the auction for the next tournament, an Australian report said.
He will return to India to play for New South Wales in the Champions League Twenty20 competition in October.
At 20, Hughes became Australia's youngest debutante and although he hit a four-ball duck in his first innings against South Africa, by the end of the three Tests he had already scored 415 runs.
However, he lost his Test spot after just three Ashes innings and was also been left out of the ODI and Twenty20 sides.
