His side cruised to victory at the Oval to reclaim the Ashes but England batsman Paul Collingwood says no matter how comfortable the win was, he was jittery all through and even dropped a catch out of nervousness.

paul collingwood"People sometimes think we are robots and don't have emotions and nerves don't get to us but believe me the closer you get to winning the Ashes the more nervous you become. I never drop catches like the one off (Michael) Hussey. When it went down I thought 'please don't let it be the catch that dropped the Ashes'," Collingwood was quoted as saying The Daily Telegraph.

England won the Ashes 2-1 after beating Australia by a massive 197 runs in the fifth and final Test at the Oval.

Collingwood, who started his Ashes campaign with an match-saving 75 in the opening Test in Cardiff, struggled for form in the later matches.

The batsman said he would fine-tune his technique a bit to keep his place in the side.

"I know I am going to have to tinker a bit with technique and become a better player to be able to stay in the side. But I am willing to do that. I am still at an age when I am enjoying my cricket," Collingwood said.

"Look at my stats, they have been good. I would have loved to have played a lot better in last few Tests but the innings in Cardiff went a long way to winning these Ashes.
