Kotla ODI tickets to be refunded

December 27, 2009 15:33 IST

The Delhi and District Cricket Association apologised for the fiasco that led to the cancellation of the fifth India-Sri Lanka ODI and promised that it will not be repeated.

"DDCA regrets the inconvenience caused to all spectators and others. We offer our apologies to them. All gate tickets will be refunded. A detailed announcement in this regard will be made shortly," DDCA president Arun Jaitley said after the match was called off because of a dangerous pitch.

The incident also triggered off crowd trouble as incensed spectators hurled water bottles and broken chairs to the ground.

The incident put a question mark over Kotla's prospects as a 2011 World Cup venue since a similar incident 12 years ago had invited a brief ban for the Nehru stadium in Indore.

Jaitley said the association will take the issue seriously.

"The DDCA takes this matter very seriously. We will look into this matter and do all that is required to ensure that such a situation doesn't reoccur," said Jaitley said.
