Australia fast bowler Brett Lee has been left out of the squad for the tour match against Northamptonshire starting on Friday, Cricket Australia said on Thursday.
Lee missed the first two Ashes Tests with a rib injury and Australia's most experienced seamer now looks unlikely to play in next week's third match of the series in Birmingham.
Australia are resting captain Ricky Ponting, batsman Michael Clarke and wicketkeeper Brad Haddin for the three-day game against Northamptonshire. Michael Hussey will lead the side.
