Sri Lankan skipper Kumar Sangakkara [ Images ] has regained the number one ranking among Test batsmen after scoring 130 not out on Friday to help draw the final Test against Pakistan in Colombo.
The 31-year-old, who rose to the top spot in late 2007 and again during 2008, ended Indian opener Gautam Gambhir's [ Images ] reign, pushing him to second, an International Cricket Council [ Images ] (ICC [ Images ]) release said on Saturday.
South African fast bowler Dale Steyn [ Images ] retained the top ranking for Test bowlers, ahead of Sri Lankan spinner Muttiah Muralitharan [ Images ], who missed the 2-0 home series win due to injury.
