Sri Lankan skipper Kumar Sangakkara has regained the number one ranking among Test batsmen after scoring 130 not out on Friday to help draw the final Test against Pakistan in Colombo.
The 31-year-old, who rose to the top spot in late 2007 and again during 2008, ended Indian opener Gautam Gambhir's reign, pushing him to second, an International Cricket Council (ICC) release said on Saturday.
South African fast bowler Dale Steyn retained the top ranking for Test bowlers, ahead of Sri Lankan spinner Muttiah Muralitharan, who missed the 2-0 home series win due to injury.
