How Ojha turned it around?

India's left-arm spinner Pragyan Ojha credited the Indian Premier League for his match-winning performance in the opening match of the ICC World Twenty20 against Bangladesh in Nottingham, on Saturday.

Ojha had been Deccan Chargers' star spinner in the last two seasons and had played a major role in their title victory this year.

And he brought that all experience into play in Trent Bridge, when he teased the Bangladeshi batsmen with his flight and spin to finish with four for 21 and lead India to a convincing 25-run victory.

"I think it was quite chilly but thanks to IPL. I bowled quite well in the IPL, so I had a lot of confidence in myself and I backed myself. I did learn to bowl in cold conditions in South Africa," the debutant spinner said.

The 22-year-old spinner also recollected he had some experience of bowling in chilly English conditions.

Ojha had played for minor county Slathwait in the Huddersfield league for a month two years back, which is regarded as one of the coldest places in England.

"Actually I was here a couple of years ago just for one month and then I had to go back to India. It was cold then too," he said.

Ojha feels though Twenty20 is a batsman dominated game the spinners do have a role to play, especially in the middle overs.

"I think varying my pace is important for me and I feel when I flight the ball it helps me a lot. It was helping a bit when you were bowling a bit slow. Obviously, Twenty20 is a batsman's game. So I think they will try to dominate you but I try to stay cool and back myself," he said.

The left-arm spinner made his international debut last year, in a ODI against Bangladesh in Karachi, but it took him a long time to break into the Twenty20 team.

Despite that he said he felt no nerves playing in his first Twenty20 international for India.

"Not really, I just had a blank mind. I didn't think about anything. I just wanted to come and bowl. It was my debut and I didn't want to put pressure on myself. I wanted to bowl the way I have been bowling."
