'South Africa will be difficult to stop'

June 15, 2009 10:16 IST

Impressed with South Africa's performance in the ongoing Twenty20 World Cup, former fast bowler Allan Donald has rated Graeme Smith's men as the favourites to clinch the title in second edition of the tournament.

"South Africa have a great chance to win. They look the part and they will be difficult to stop. Where they are outskilling people is in the field. It's a long time since I've seen a South African side so sharp, so quick, full of athletes and so young," Donald said.

Proteas have all but sealed their semi-final berth with the successive wins over England and the West Indies and will now end their Super Eight engagement by taking on defending champion India on Tuesday.

"It's a major world trophy. I don't think you would have said that a few years ago because Twenty20 was just a hit and giggle. But now it's a major world tournament and it's more serious now as well as very entertaining and enjoyable to watch and play. Everyone is desperate to win it," Donald was quoted as saying by Daily Mirror.
