Statistical highlights on Day 1 of the second Test against New Zealand in Napier on Thursday.

351 New Zealand's total of 351 is their fourth highest score on the opening day of a Test. It is also their second highest against India after the 387 for 9 at Auckland in 1989-90.

271 runs added by Ross Taylor and Jesse Ryder for the fourth wicket, making it the highest partnership for any wicket against India. The pair obliterated the previous record stand of 231 between Mark Richardson and Lou Vincent at Mohali in 2003-04.
