Usually it is the Australian player Matthew Hayden (in the picture) who scores faster amongst the two openers, but tonight it was the young Parthiv who overtook Hayden.
Hayden scored 26 off 19 balls, including 2 fours and a six.
It was a very unusual innings played by captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni as he after coming in at number 3 scored 28 off 30 balls without a single boundary.
Pandey was well-supported by Rahul Dravid (in the picture), who brought all his experience into play in a composed knock of 44 from 39 deliveries as the duo added 72 runs in 58 deliveries for the third wicket.
