# Muttiah Muralitharan is averaging 43.00 in India – 36 wickets in 10 Tests with a strike rate of 84.1. His overall tally against India is 93 wickets at 31.87 runs apiece in 20 Tests.

# Muralitharan (18-0-100-2) has extended his unwanted record of conceding 100 runs or more 59 times.

# Gautam Gambhir is the third Indian player to post four successive Test hundreds - the first two being Sunil Gavaskar and Rahul Dravid.

# Gambhir has registered seven centuries in his last nine Tests.

# For the sixth time, both Indian openers have made hundreds in the same Test innings.
