Statistical highlights: India vs Sri Lanka, 2nd Test, Day 3

Statistical highlights of the third day's play in the second Test between India and Sri Lanka in Kanpur on Thursday.

# Sreesanth's brilliant bowling figures are the best by an Indian fast bowler against Sri Lanka in India. Kapil Dev was the first and only fast/medium-fast bowler before Sreesanth to take five wickets in an innings against Sri Lanka in India, claiming 5 for 110 at Chennai in 1982-83.

# Sreesanth (5/75) produced his best bowling figures in India, eclipsing the 4 for 70 against England at Mumbai in 2005-06.

# Sreesanth has now recorded two instances of five wickets in an innings -- his first being 5 for 40 against South Africa at Johannesburg in 2006-07.

# Kumar Sangakkara (44) registered his highest score in India in eight innings, aggregating 210 at an average of 26.25.

# Sangakkara's previous highest in India was 41 at Ahmedabad in December 2005.

# Tharanga Paranavitana (38) posted his highest innings on foreign soil apart from recording the highest against India.

# Mahela Jayawardene (332) became the first Sri Lankan and the second player after Rahul Dravid (359) to amass 300 runs in the 2009-10 series.

# The leading run-getters in Tests this year -- Thilan Samaraweera (1156), Mahela Jayawardene (1155), Andrew Strauss (1071), Tillakaratne Dilshan (972) and Kumar Sangakkara (928).

# Sreesanth, with six wickets in the Kanpur Test, including five for 75, has now taken 56 wickets in 15 Tests at 29.60 runs apiece.

# Sri Lanka (229) recorded their lowest total at Green Park, Kanpur. They had made 420 in their only previous Test at this venue in December 1986

# India's 413-run first innings' lead is their biggest over Sri Lanka - the said instance is their third of 400 runs or more in Test cricket.

# Sri Lanka have been asked to follow-on by India for the fifth time in Tests. India had defeated them by an innings in the previous four Tests.
