Injury-hit Oram considering retirement: report

Jacob OramInjury-plagued New Zealand [ Images ] all-rounder Jacob Oram [ Images ] is planning to retire from international cricket, a media report in Melbourne [ Images ] has claimed.

According to Sydney [ Images ] Morning Herald, Oram, who is currently nursing a hamstring injury, is in talks with New Zealand Cricket officials and could hold a press conference on Monday to speak about his future.

The 31-year-old is devastated after picking up the latest injury, that cut short his Champions Trophy [ Images ] participation, and is now weighing his options for the future.

"I am obviously gutted with my latest injury and missing out on an ICC [ Images ] event; these events are particularly special," Oram was quoted as saying by the newspaper.

"At the moment I am spending some time assessing my future and trying to work out what is best for me and the Black Caps," he said.

The imposing all-rounder has played 33 Tests and 132 one-dayers for New Zealand since making his debut in 2001.
