Trinidad and Tobago made a winning start to their campaign in the Champions League Twenty20, shocking Somerset by 44 runs at the M Chinnaswamy stadium in Bangalore on Monday.
After putting up a modest 150 for 9 in their alloted overs, the Caribbeans, spurred by some fine bowling by from Dwayne Bravo (4-23) and Sherwin Ganga (2-16) dismissed the English side for 106 off the last ball of the match.
Denesh Ramadin's run-a-ball 39 had earlier hoisted Trinidad & Tobago.
Somerset, who now have one win and a loss from their group engagements, will have to hope that Trinidad and Tobago beat Deccan Chargers in their next match, as that result could clear their passage to the Super Eights stage.
Bravo jolted the English innings with an early two-wicket burst and also claimed the last two wickets in the final over of the game.
Sherwin Ganga, who played a crucial unbeaten 18-run cameo earlier, also did his bit with ball, taking two wickets. For that all-round showing he was adjudged the man of the match.
Dave Mohammed (2 for 18) was other notable contributor in the Caribbean side's victory.
Zander de Bruyn did all he could for Somerset with an unbeaten 39-ball 43, but fell short of partners from the other end as his teammates came and went in no time.
Skipper Justin Langer (15) was the only other batsman from the English county to get to double digits.
Bravo drew first blood with the fifth ball of his first over when he had Marcus Trescothick (3) caught behind and then sent back Craig Kieswetter (4).
Somerset had just 26 runs on the board in five overs at that time and kept losing wickets.
Ganga got rid of skipper Langer and Mohammed castled Arul to leave Somerset gasping at 52 for four in 12th over.
Bruyn was not ready to give in and fought well for Somerset, hitting three fours and a six but never got an able partner on the other end.
James Hildreth (0) and Alfonso Thomas (9) who had scripted Somerset's sensational victory against Deccan Chargers in their first match, ran themselves out.
Opting to bat first, the Caribbean side got off to a flying start before losing four wickets in 10 balls. Things could have been worse for them but for Ramadin.
Openers Lendl Simmons (22) and Willliam Perkins (20) played smart and aggressive cricket to raise 43 runs by fifth over before Ben Phillips drew first blood, dismissing the rampaging Simmons.
The dismissal triggered a batting collapse and from 43 for no loss, the Caribbeans slumped to 60 for four.
Ramadin added 30 runs with Ganga and another 31 with Kieron Pollard to steady the ship.
Down the order, Sherwin Ganga (18 not out) came up with an eight-ball cameo to take the team past the 150-mark.
