Unity is the secret of Trinidad & Tobago's success: Barath

October 19, 2009 15:09 IST

The only national team competing in a tournament meant for domestic sides, Trinidad and Tobago's batting sensation Adrian Barath says the secret of his side's stupendous unbeaten run in the Champions League Twenty20 is the unity among the players.

"This unit has been playing together for a number of years. We have big players like Dwayne Bravo, Daren Ganga and Kieron Pollard. These guys are International players and our captain has good leadership qualities.

"I think unity is the best way forward," the 19-year-old debutant told reporters after Trinidad and Tobago beat Diamond Eagles to enter the semi-finals.

"It does not make sense if you have big players and no unity. Everyone has to support the other. I think that is the key," he said.

Barath, who made a superb 63 in the match, said he was happy with his performance.

"It is an excellent feeling. This is my first game in India. I have been watching the Indian Premier League. I'm excited to come to the Champions League and have a performance like this. I feel good about myself and my ability," he said.
