Mahendra Singh Dhoni's No 1 ODI batsman's tag is under threat from his deputy, Yuvraj Singh, while the top one-day team's status beckons India, provided the team completes a clean sweep in the tri-series, starting on Tuesday.
As India prepares to leave for Sri Lanka for the tri-series, which also features New Zealand, Dhoni occupies the No 1 slot amongst batsman. With 44 rating points separating him from second-placed Yuvraj, the order might undergo a change depending on who performs better in the upcoming tri-series.
Besides Dhoni and Yuvraj, India boasts two more batsmen in the top 20 list. Batting maestro Sachin Tendulkar occupies the 12th position with a place in the top 10 well within his sights, while opener Gautam Gambhir shares the 17th spot with New Zealand's Ross Taylor.
In the rankings for ODI bowlers, Sri Lanka's Nuwan Kulasekara is feeling the pressure from New Zealand duo of Kyle Mills and Daniel Vettori. With only 36 points separating Kulasekara from Vettori, a change at the top of the order looks inevitable.
Among the Indians, Harbhajan Singh is placed in the 23rd spot and the injured Zaheer Khan is sitting pretty in the top-twenty line-up at 16.
In the team chart, India trails No 1-ranked South Africa by just one ratings point. However, if India wins all its three matches, including the final, it will have two rating points in their kitty and will supersede South Africa in the rankings table.
However, if India loses one match in the tournament, it will stay on 126 ratings points while defeat in two matches will see the team's rating slip to 123 points.
