Sohail TanvirPacer Sohail Tanvir is among the six Pakistani players banned from playing at a ground in Karachi after being charged with ball-tampering and abusing the umpires during a Ramadan festival Twenty20 match.

Officials confirmed that Tanvir, Ahmed Shahzed, Sohail Khan, Javed Qadeer, who have all played for the national team, and Tanveer Ahmed and Nadeem Sheikh, have been banned from playing any matches at the famous Karachi Gymkhana ground.

"The players were reported by umpires, Riazuddin and Junaid Ghafoor for ball tampering, abusing the umpires and showing dissent over decisions in a match of the K G Ramazan festival quarter-finals on Tuesday," one official said.

Test umpire Riazuddin said he was forced to report the matter to the organizers after things got out of hand in the match.

"The players were misbehaving a lot, using abusive language and some of them were spotted trying to scuff the ball," he said.

In Ramadan tournaments, a player can appear for different teams in different tournaments and a minimum of three guest players are allowed in every team.
