A plethora of records for Sri Lanka

Following are the statistical highlights of first match of the Champions Trophy between Sri Lanka and South Africa played at Supersports Park.

tillekeratne dilshan# Dilshan and Sangakkara have recorded a second wicket partnership of 158, which is Sri Lanka's highest for any wicket against South Africa in ODIs.

# The aforesaid partnership is their highest for the second wicket in the ICC Champions Trophy.

# Dilshan became the second Sri Lankan player to register a century against South Africa in South Africa. Marvan Atapattu has recorded two hundreds - 124 at Durban on 3.3.2003 and 123 not out at Benoni on 1.12.2002.

# Mahela Jayawardene's 77 is his 50th fifty in ODIs. The said innings is his best against South Africa, eclipsing the 59 at East London on 17.12.2000.

# Graeme Smith has registered his 39th fifty in ODIs - his fourth against Sri Lanka.

# Sri Lanka's 55-run win is their first in three matches against South Africa in the ICC Champions Trophy.

# Sri Lanka's aforesaid victory is their first in almost seven years against South Africa in South Africa and the fifth in 18 matches against South Africa in South Africa (Tied 1 and Lost 12).

# Sri Lanka have recorded their highest total against South Africa in Limited-Overs Internationals, which is also the highest against South Africa at Centurion.

# Sri Lanka (319/8) have produced their highest total in the ICC Champions Trophy. The said total is the second best in the said  Trophy. New Zealand holds a record - 347 for four against USA at The Oval on 10.9.2004.

# Sri Lanka's aforesaid total is the highest by any team against South Africa in the ICC Champions Trophy.

# Graeme Smith's 58 off 44 balls is his second half-century in the ICC Champions Trophy - his highest is 69 against Kenya at Colombo RPS in September 2002.

# Jean-Paul Duminy's fourth duck in ODIs is his third against Sri Lanka.

# In calendar year 2009, Tillakaratne Dilshan has received his third Man of the Match award - his fifth overall.

# Jacques Kallis, during the course of his 41 off 48 balls, has taken his runs tally to 605 (average 50.41) in 15 matches in the ICC Champions Trophy. The said tally is exceeded only by Chris Gayle (695) and Sourav Ganguly (665).

# Sangakkara's 54 off 74 balls is his first fifty as Sri Lankan skipper.

# Tillakaratne Dilshan (106 off 92 balls) has registered his highest innings in the ICC Champions Trophy. He is the first to register a hundred for Sri Lanka against South Africa in the Champions Trophy.

# Dilshan's aforesaid century is his first vs South Africa - his third overall.
