Concerned CA to talk to IPL organizers about security in India

The twin blasts in Bangalore has sounded alarm and the Cricket Australia said they would talk to the Indian Premier League authority soon to take stock of the security situation in the country.

"We're keen to talk to the IPL organisers, and that will possibly happen some time in the next 12 hours or so, just to get an understanding of what's going on," CA spokesman Peter Young told reporters.

He, however, said the board is not taking any call right now about their participation in the ICC World Cup, which will be held in the sub-continent next year.

"The World Cup is too far away to comment about," he said.

There were around 40,000 spectators inside the Chinnaswamy Stadium when two low intensity blasts took place on Saturday before an IPL match.

Young said that the Australian players are taking part in the IPL independently but expressed relief that all of them were safe.

"In a formal sense we are not connected. But we are always concerned about our players and personnel," Young said.

"We are relieved, however, that there have been no injuries to any of the Australian personnel who are in India to play," he added.

Young said that they were expecting an update from the IPL soon and added he was not aware of any player expressing concerns to the Australian Cricketers' Association or to their respective state associations.

Unwilling to take any chance, the IPL authorities have also shifted both the semi-finals to Navi Mumbai following the blasts.
