Tendulkar, Ojha take top honours at IPL awards

Mumbai Indians captain Sachin Tendulkar was named best batsman while Ojha bagged the best bowler honour at a glitzy IPL Awards Night in Mumbai on Friday.

Tendulkar, who missed the event, was also named best batsman and best captain in the Viewers' Choice category.

Yuvraj had a disappointing outing with the bat in the tournament as he scored 225 runs in 14 matches at an average of 21.25 without a single half-century.

Punjab finished at the bottom of the standings in IPL 3, having won just four matches out of 14 in the group stages.

Kallis named most consistent performer

Kallis has been Bangalore's top performer in the tournament as he top scored with 553 runs from 15 matches, while also scalping 11 wickets.

Harbhajan, who has taken 17 wickets in the tournament, was given the best dramatic performance award.

The winners were judged by a jury comprising Lalit Modi (Chairperson), Sunil Gavaskar, Brian Lara, Javagal Srinath, Simon Taufel, and Harsha Bogle.

Pollard shines in debut season

Mumbai Indians' all-rounder Kieron Pollard was awarded the best debut performance in IPL 3.

After a slow start, Pollard made his presence felt with a couple of attacking innings along with a few wickets.

The West Indies youngster has so far made 246 runs in 13 matches at a strike rate of 179, while also taking 14 wickets to lead Mumbai's charge into the IPL final.

BCCI top brass boycott IPL awards

The Awards Night was boycotted by the top brass of the Board of Control for Cricket in India. BCCI president Shashank Manohar, secretary N Srinivasan, and IPL vice-chairman Niranjan Shah stayed away from the event.

The entire IPL Governing Council, barring Sunil Gavaskar and IS Bindra, also shunned the event though most of the players were present.

Yusuf gets fastest hundred award

Pathan was given the Statistical award for the fastest hundred. The Rajasthan all-rounder had blazed a 37-ball hundred against Mumbai Indians at the Brabourne stadium, but his despite his brilliant innings, the 2008 champions were beaten by four runs.
