Cricket Australia on Thursday announced separate 12-man squads for the first two One-dayers against Pakistan so that more national players could turn up for their domestic sides in the finals of the Big Bash tournament.

The five match series begins in Brisbane on January 22.

The preliminary final of the Twenty20 competition is slated for January 19 and the final is scheduled for January 23.

South Australia have already qualified for the finals.

According to Cricket Australia, Mitchell Johnson will not play the first three ODIs to manage his workload and will join the squad for the last two matches in Perth.

All-rounder James Hopes has been selected for the series opening match in Brisbane and middle-order batsman Adam Voges will replace him in the second ODI in Sydney.

National Selection Panel Chairman Andrew Hilditch said the selection has been made in such a way that neither the T20 event nor the series against Pakistan gets affected.

"The squads for the first two matches of the Commonwealth Bank Series against Pakistan have been selected to ensure that as many players are available for the KFC Twenty20 Big Bash Preliminary Final and Final on 23 January, whilst not compromising the performance and preparation of the Australian team," he said.

"As a result, the NSP has selected a different squad for both games to try and provide the best possible coverage for the start of the Commonwealth Bank Series, with squads of 12 players chosen for these two matches," Hilditch added.

The squads:

For 1st ODI on January 22 in Brisbane:

Ricky Ponting (c), Michael Clarke (vc), Doug Bollinger, Brad Haddin, Nathan Hauritz, James Hopes, Mike Hussey, Shaun Marsh, Clint McKay, Peter Siddle, Shane Watson and Cameron White.

For 2nd ODI on 24 January in Sydney:

Ricky Ponting (c), Michael Clarke (vc), Doug Bollinger, Brad Haddin, Nathan Hauritz, Mike Hussey, Shaun Marsh, Clint McKay, Peter Siddle, Adam Voges, Shane Watson and Cameron White.
