Pakistan suffered a major setback in the ongoing Australia tour after young left-arm pacer Mohammad Aamir was rendered uncertain for the remainder of the series due to a recurrence of a groin problem.

Pakistan coach Intikhab Alam said Aamir had aggravated his groin problem during the second ODI against Australia in Sydney on Sunday, and is unlikely to play take part anymore in the series that ends on February 5 with the lone Twenty20 International.

Intikhab said Aamir had torn a muscle in his groin, the same problem which had kept him out of the second Test in Sydney which Pakistan lost by 36 runs in a nail biting finish.

"We will get the MRI report soon and will then know then extent of the injury, but it does not look good," the coach said.

The 17-year-old fast bowler is seen as one of the best pace bowling prospects for Pakistan in the years to come and has impressed everyone with performance in Australia.

Intikhab said he was hopeful that Mohammad Asif, who did not play the second one-dayer due to a finger injury, would be fit and available for Tuesday's third ODI in Adelaide.
