Former Mumbai Ranji Trophy captain Milind Rege has been appointed the 2011 World Cup tournament manager.
"He will be the World Cup tournament manager to oversee the readiness of all eight venues (in India) to conduct these matches, like preparing the dressing rooms, the umpires' rooms etc," sourses in the Board of Control for Cricket in India said.
The appointment is till the conclusion of the mega event, to be held in India, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh from February 19 to April 2, the sources added.
Mumbai, Mohali, Nagpur, Kolkata, Bangalore, Chennai, Ahmedabad and Delhi are the Indian centres that will host World Cup matches.
Rege, who recently retired from full time service with the Tata group, is also a managing committee member of Mumbai Cricket Association.
BCCI Chief Administrative Officer Ratnakar Shetty is the overall tournament director, while Suru Nayak is India's tournament director.
