Team India leaves for Sri Lanka series

The Indian cricket team, sans newly-wed captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni, on Friday left for Sri Lanka to play three Tests and a tri-nation ODI series, starting July 18.

Dhoni, who married childhood friend Sakshi Rawat, will receive an honorary membership by Madras Cricket Club this evening and will fly to the Island nation from Chennai on Saturday.

The function has been organized to acknowledge and appreciate Chennai Super Kings' title triumph in IPL 3 under Dhoni's leadership.

Reserve stumper Wriddhiman Saha, who has been on duty for the India A team, will fly directly to Sri Lanka from London.

India A on Thursday lost the final of the tri-series, also involving West Indies A, to England Lions.

India are without their pace mainstay Zaheer Khan, who is nursing a shoulder injury.

In his absence, S Sreesanth and Ishant Sharma will do the duty with the new ball.

After completing the Test assignment, India will play a tri-series, also involving New Zealand, from August 10.
