We have nothing to do with any IPL bid: Supriya Sule

June 04, 2010 12:33 IST

Agriculture Minister Sharad Pawar's daughter Supriya Sule sprang in defence of her family, saying they had nothing to do with City Corporation MD Aniruddha Deshpande's unsuccessful bid for the Pune IPL team.

Reacting to reports of the bid by the Pune-based City Corporation, in which Pawar's family has 16 per cent equity, Sule said Deshpande made the bid in his individual capacity.

"I stand by what I had earlier said that we have nothing to do with it," said Sule, a member of parliament.

"We are a minority shareholder in the company and we don't sit on the board. Now if people (Deshpande) have gone in without the permission of the board, how am I involved?" she asked.

"The board had passed a resolution not to bid and if Mr Deshpande still want to go ahead, he should do it in his individual capacity. We have nothing to do with that," she said.

"We have the documents to prove that the board did not approve of any bid," she added.

Earlier, Pawar had also denied the family's involvement in the bid.
