Scorecard

- This match was the 123rd encounter between India and Sri Lanka. Australia and New Zealand have also played same number of matches against each other. Now only one rivalry - Australia vs West Indies - has seen more matches - 125.

- India handed debut caps to Naman Ojha, Ravichandran Ashwin and Pankaj Singh. A total of 187 players have now represented India in the shorter version of the game. Incidentally India had also played three debutants in the first game of this tri-series against Zimbabwe at Bulawayo on May 28, 2010.

- Excluding the inaugural ODI (vs England, Leeds,1974 - when all 11 players were making their debut), India have played 3 or more debutants in the same match on 11 occasions. Of them, they lost seven and won four (including one vs Kenya).

- Virat Kohli (68), on 53, completed his 1,000 ODI runs. He became 260th batsman overall and 30th Indian to reach this landmark (later in the Indian innings Rohit Sharma became the 261st batsman overall and 31st India to accomplish this feat).

- By taking just 24 innings to reach this milestone, Kohli now holds the distinction of completing 1,000 runs in least innings for India. Navjot Sidhu did so in 25 innings.

- Tillakaratne Dilshan's wicket of Suresh Raina (caught by Chamara Kapugedera) was his 50th ODI wicket. He became 212th bowler overall and 21st Sri Lanka to reach this landmark.

- Incidentally Dilshan is the second slowest among Sri Lankans to complete 50 wickets by taking 177 matches. Only Aravinda de Silva (183) has taken more matches in reaching the landmark. In all ODIs, he is the fifth slowest.

- Dinesh Chandimal (111) playing in his 2nd ODI (and 20th List A match), scored his maiden hundred in a limited-over match. Chandimal became third Sri Lankan keeper after Romesh Kaluwitharana (2) and Kumar Sangakkara (8) to score an ODI hundred.

- At 20 years 199 days, Chandimal became the youngest player to score an ODI hundred for Sri Lanka. Upul Tharanga was the previous youngest at 20 years 212 days.

- Chandimal also became the second youngest wicketkeeper in the game's history to score an ODI hundred. Only Afghanistan's Mohammad Shahzad has scored a hundred at a younger age.

- Chandimal's five sixes in the match also equalled the existing Sri Lankan record of most sixes in a match against India. Sanath Jayasuriya and Kumar Sangakkara are the other to do so.
