Statistical highlights: SL vs Zimbabwe, tri-series final

- Zimbabwe's total of 199 in the deciding match of the tri-series against Zimbabwe on Wednesday was their highest against a Test-playing country in a tournament final.

- Tatenda Taibu (71) scored his second successive fifty in a tournament final -- though it came after a gap of more than seven years! Taibu had made 74* against Pakistan in Sharjah Cup final in 2003.

Tillakaratne Dilshan (108*) became the fourth Sri Lankan batsman to score a century in a tournament final, after Aravinda de Silva, Sanath Jayasuriya and Marvan Atapattu, who each has scored two centuries apiece.

Dilshan's innings is the second highest by a Sri Lankan captain in a tournament final, after Sanath Jayasuriya, who made 189* against India in Champions Trophy final at Sharjah in 2000.

Upal Tharanga, on 45, completed his 3,000 runs in ODIs. He became 108th batsman in all ODIs and 13th Sri Lankan to reach this milestone. 

By taking 93 innings to accomplish this feat, Tharanga became the fastest among Sri Lankan batsmen to do so. Marvan Atapattu held the previous record with 94 innings. Incidentally this was Tharanga's 92nd innings for Sri Lanka. He appeared for Asian XI in one game in which he scored 10.

Dilshan's 108* was his seventh ODI hundred. Interestingly they have come against SIX different opponents: TWO v India and ONE v Netherlands, Pakistan, South Africa, Bangladesh and Zimbabwe.

The first wicket partnership of 160-runs between Upul Tharanga and Tillakaratne Dilshan is Sri Lanka's best for the opening wicket in a tournament final. Sanath Jayasuriya and Marvan Atapattu had put on 148 against Pakistan at Mohali in first final of Independence Cup in 1997.

The above partnership is also Sri Lanka's highest partnership for any wicket on Zimbabwe soil. The pair obliterated the 144-run partnership between Romesh Kaluwitharana and Mahela Jayawardene for the third wicket at this same venue in 1999.

Sri Lanka's win by nine wickets provided the fifth instance of a side winning a tournament final by 9 wickets or more (excluding the tournaments played with best of three finals format).
