Knight Riders to finalise 3rd keeper in two days

March 02, 2010 09:34 IST

The Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) will select their third wicket-keeper within a couple of days, KKR coach Dav Whatmore said in Kolkata on Monday.

Besides Brendon McCullum, the Kiwi wicket-keeper batsman who is expected to join the team later in the tournament, KKR have Bengal's Wriddhiman Saha as their second keeper.

A decision on the third wicket-keeper would be taken after consultation with team skipper and former India captain Sourav Ganguly, Whatmore said after a practice session at the Eden Gardens.

Ganguly on Monday flew to Ahmedabad to play in the Vijay Hazare trophy final and will join the KKR practice session from Wednesday.

KKR had a practice session at the Eden with 15 players including Ajit Agarkar.

Whatmore hoped coordination among the players of the team would emerge once all the players were available.

Many players could not join the camp now as they are busy playing domestic or international tournaments.

Meanwhile, former Pakistani speedster and bowling consultant Wasim Akram is likely to join the KKR practice session on Tuesday.

KKR will feature in the inaugural match against Deccan Chargers in Mumbai on March 12.
