David Warner got an early reprieve when Robin Uthappa, running back from mid-off, failed to take a high catch in the first over of the innings from Praveen Kumar.

The left-hander made Bangalore pay as he went on a rampage, smashing everything that came his way, including a powerful pull shot for a six against Dale Steyn in the second over.

Kedar Jadhav hit a half-century on debut as Delhi Daredevils went on to beat Royal Challengers by 17 runs.

Leg-spinner Amit Mishra shone with the ball, claiming two for 23 in four overs, as Bangalore finished on 166 for nine in their 20 overs.

Warner and his opening partner too Daelhi Daredevils' score to 39 without loss by the end of the third over.

But it was Styen who provided Bangalore some relief by claiming the wicket of the high-flying Warner for 33.

The left-hander, who hit three boundaries and two sixes, in his 14-ball knock holed out to Vinay Kumar, kept specifically for that shot, at long-off.

AB de Villiers looked in good touch right from the start as he raced to 12 from six balls as Delhi put up 58 for one after five overs.

But Vinay Kumar brought the Bangalore side back in the match when he struck with his very first delivery, claiming the vital wicket of Sehwag.

The Delhi opener scored 12 from 11 balls before he tried to launch one over the off-side but was taken by Virat Kohli, running back from the cover region.

The Bangalore side strung up a few tight overs as they dried up the boundaries for nearly four overs.

But debutant Kedar Jadhav broke the shackles when he pulled Kallis down the ground for a boundary in the 13th over.

Jadhav took a fancy to Jacques Kallis as he slammed him for a boundary and a six to take Bangalore to 128 for three after 15 overs.

He and Andrew McDonald kept the runs flowing in the final overs with regular boundaries. The youngster finished unbeaten on a cracking innings of 50 from 29 balls as Delhi put up 183 for four in their 20 overs.

Royal Challengers makes news on their Green Initiative, again.

Just before the match commenced, the Royal Challengers Bangalore team along with Dr Vijay Mallya and Sidhartha Mallya commemorated World Earth Hour by planting the saplings at the Chinnaswamy stadium.

World Earth Hour will be celebrated on March 27 around the world.

Given RCB's Green commitment to the Garden city and the match being played just ahead of the World Earth Day, the RCB team members planted saplings along with Sidhartha Mallya. The initiative comes closely after the drive to conserve the green values was launched by RCB earlier this month.

To drive home the environment-conservation message, Royal Challengers Bangalore skipper Anil Kumble presented Dinesh Karthik with a sapling during the toss.

Manish Pandey and Jacques Kallis gave Royal Challengers a solid start.

But it was Kallis who was the first to depart.  He charged down the wicket to Amit Mishra, who beat him in the flight, and was bowled by the googly after a sedate 27 from 29 balls.

Pandey followed Kallis soon. In the next over he tried a reckless shot across the line to Andrew McDonald but missed and was bowled for 39.

He hit four boundaries and a six in his 26-ball knock.

Off the next delivery, Bangalore lost another wicket when Rahul Dravid was run out for 1 attempting a tight second run.

Robin Uthappa, who started by scoring a boundary with the reverse sweep, perished attempting the same shot.

He had scored 15 from 10 balls before he attempted to reverse sweep and lobbed a simple catch on the off-side to wicketkeeper Dinesh Karthik.

Bangalore slipped to 90 for four after 12 overs.
