Scorecard

- This match was India's 742nd One-Day International match. India have now played more matches than any side in ODI history, surpassing Australia's tally of 741 matches.

- Tillakaratne Dilshan was captaining Sri Lanka for the first time in an ODI. He became the 15th player to captain Sri Lanka in this format.

- Dilshan was captaining the side for the first time after playing 174 matches. Only Chaminda Vaas (268) and Kumar Sangakkara (239) have captained Sri Lanka for the first time after appearing in more matches.

- Dilshan's 61 is the second highest score by a Sri Lankan on captaincy debut after Sanath Jayasuriya, who made 102 against Zimbabwe at Colombo SSC on January 26, 1998.

- Dilshan's 61 also equals the highest score by a Sri Lankan while captaining for the first time against India. Sanath Jayasuriya had also made 61 in an Aiwa Cup game at Colombo RPS on August 25, 2009.

- Rohit Sharma (101 not out) made his second ODI hundred in his 44th match. He had made 114 in the previous game against Zimbabwe. Rohit thus became the sixth Indian to score hundreds in back to back games, joining the ranks of Sachin Tendulkar, Rahul Dravid, Sourav Ganguly, VVS Laxman and Yuvraj Singh.

- Rohit now has a golden opportunity to equal the world record for most consecutive hundreds, which is hitherto held by four batsmen - Zaheer Abbas, Saeed Anwar, Herschelle Gibbs and AB de Villiers.

- Rohit's score (101 not out) is his highest against Sri Lanka, beating his 70 (not out) at Canberra on February 12, 2008.

- Virat Kohli (82) made his seventh fifty (apart from two hundreds) in his 25th match. Of his nine fifty-plus scores, five have come against Sri Lanka!

- Kohli has aggregated 929 runs at an average of 51.61 in his ODI career, which is the second highest aggregate by an Indian after exactly 25 matches. Only Navjot Sidhu has scored more runs after his first 25 matches (963). Kohli's batting average is also the second best by an Indian after first 25 matches, next only to Mohammad Kaif's 56.82.

- The 154-run partnership between Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma is India's best for the third wicket against Zimbabwe. The pair surpassed the previous record stand of 143 between Sachin Tendulkar and Ajay Jadeja in Singapore on September 4, 1999.

- The above partnership is also the best for the third wicket at this venue by any side. The previous record stand was of 119 runs between Tamim Iqbal and Raqibul Hasan for Bangladesh on August 16, 1999.

- Rohit Sharma won his maiden Man of the Match award in his 44th match.
