Trott, Wahab involved in altercation

September 21, 2010 09:10 IST

Pakistan team manager Yawar Saeed confirmed that England batsman Jonathan Trott and Pakistan bowler Wahab Riaz were involved in a confrontation before the fourth one-day international at Lord's.

A cricket website reported that words were exchanged between the two players in the nets at Lord's.

"Yes there were some words exchanged after a misunderstanding over use of nets but the players moved away after the intervention of the umpires who were present there and our coach," Yawar said.

"There was nothing serious and just a minor incident," he insisted. But the incident highlighted the growing distrust and animosity between the players of the two teams since the spot fixing allegations first broke out late last month after the fourth Test at Lord's.

The relations further soured after the ICC announced it was investigating newspaper reports that there was some spot fixing in the third one-dayer at The Oval that Pakistan won.

The Pakistan board chairman Ijaz Butt also didn't help the matters by accusing English cricketers of being involved in corruption.
