Harbhajan undergoes MRI scan, may be advised rest

September 28, 2010 10:24 IST

As India gears up for the tough Test series against Australia, its spin spearhead Harbhajan Singh underwent an MRI scan in a local hospital after suffering a side sprain.

The off-spinner was seen limping during the practice session of the team as his ankle was bandaged. He though took part in the training after taking a break.

He later bowled at the nets of Sector-16 stadium after the conclusion of the match between Australia and Board President's XI and then in the evening went to Fortis Hospital for the MRI scan.

"He underwent an MRI scan around pelvic and hip area. There is no serious injury but since he got a sprain, it would be advisable to take rest for the next few days," Fortis sources said.

Harbhajan will visit the hospital in the morning to know the status of his niggle. Both the India openers - Gautam Gambhir and Virender Sehwag - have also suffered minor injuries.
