Former Australia captain Steve Waugh on Monday put his money on India, Australia, South Africa and Sri Lanka to emerge triumphant in the upcoming World Cup.

Speaking at a function in Kolkata, Waugh even suggested that two-time winners West Indies also have an outside chance.

Talking about the Mahendra Singh Dhoni-led side's prospects, Waugh said, "India had a good start at the practice match against our country. And this should boost their morale before the mega event."

Steve WaughWaugh also had a piece of advice for the Indian skipper.

"Dhoni should not think too far initially and concentrate on each game as it comes, and play cricket as you play," he said.

Turning to criticisms in certain quarters about the nature of tracks being prepared in India for the tournament, Waugh said, "The pitches may be slower or take turn, but the teams have required experience to play on these turfs."

To a question whether he thinks Sachin Tendulkar, who will be appearing in his sixth World Cup, deserves to be part of a winning side, Waugh said "every player turning up in the World Cup has the desire to win the Cup".

About the weaknesses in the present Indian team and what would be his advice, Waugh had this to say: "Every team has certain weaknesses, and there are captains and coaches to deal with those matters."
