1st ODI: Dhoni, Team India fined for slow over-rate

Indian cricket captain Mahendra Singh Doni was fined 20 percent of his match fee while his teammates were docked 10 percent of their earnings for maintaining a slow over-rate during the first ODI against Sri Lanka in Hambantota on Saturday.

The Indian side was ruled to be an over short of the target when time allowances were taken into consideration.

"The offence is contrary to Article 2.5.1 of the code which relates to minor over-rate offences. The finding and penalties were imposed following a full disciplinary hearing," the statement said.

India won the first match by 21 runs on Saturday.
