Statistical highlights of the World Twenty20 match between Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe in Hambantota, on Tuesday:

# Ajantha Mendis set a Sri Lankan bowling record for most wickets 46 at 9.84 runs apiece in 22 matches in Twenty20Is, overtaking Lasith Malinga's tally of 41 (ave.20.43) in 34 matches.

# Mendis was adjudged Man of the Match for the fifth time in T20Is - his second against Zimbabwe.

# Mendis (6/8) became the first Sri Lankan bowler to register a five-wicket haul in the ICC World Twenty20. Pakistan's Umar Gul was the first to record the feat in the ICC World Twenty20 - 5 for 6 against New Zealand at The Oval on June 13, 2009.

# Mendis' figures are the best in the history of the Twenty20 Internationals, eclipsing his own figures of 6 for 16 against Australia at Pallekele on August 8, 2011.

# Mendis became the second Sri Lankan bowler to concede eight runs in a four-over spell in T20Is. Angelo Matthews had recorded figures of 4-1-8-2 against Pakistan at Hambantota on June 1, 2012.

# The only Sri Lankan bowler to concede less than ten runs in a four-over spell twice is Ajantha Mendis. He had first recorded the distinction against the West Indies - 4-0-9-2 at The Oval on June 19, 2009.

# Mendis became the first Sri Lankan bowler to bowl two maiden overs in a four-over spell in a T20I. Shaun Tait had delivered two maiden overs in the 2010 World Twenty20, registering the feat against Bangladesh.

# Mendis is the first and only bowler to capture six wickets in an innings and that too twice in Twenty20 Internationals.

# Jeevan Mendis (43 not out off 30 balls) recorded his highest score in T20Is.

# Kumar Sangakkara and Mendis added 94 for the fourth-wicket - Sri Lanka's highest partnership in the ICC World Twenty20. The said partnership is also their highest for the fourth wicket against Zimbabwe in T20Is.

# Sangakkara's 44 off 26 balls is his highest score against Zimbabwe in Twenty20 Internationals.

# The three run-outs is a Sri Lankan record in an ICC World Twenty20.

# Sri Lanka (182/4) posted their highest total against Zimbabwe in Twenty20 Internationals. Their previous highest was 173 for seven at Providence on May 3, 2010.\

# Zimbabwe (100) registered their second lowest total in Twenty20Is - the lowest is 84 off 15.1 overs against New Zealand at Providence on May 4, 2010.

# Sri Lanka's 82-run win is the joint fourth highest in terms of runs in the ICC World Twenty20.

# The margin is the biggest defeat in terms of runs suffered by Zimbabwe in the ICC World Twenty20.

# Zimbabwe earned a dubious distinction, losing 13 matches in a row in Twenty20 Internationals since May 2010, outstripping Bangladesh's tally of losing 12 consecutive matches between September 2007 and May 2010.
